Apple text message scam
Got one of these bogus messages today.
Thought I would share this information:
Apple text message scam
An Apple text message scam is a fraudulent text message that appears to be from Apple, often claiming your Apple ID is compromised, urging you to click a link to update your account details, or requesting sensitive information like your password or credit card number, all with the goal of stealing your personal information; key signs to watch out for include a sender number not clearly identified as Apple, urgent requests for personal details, suspicious links, and a sense of urgency to act immediately.
How to identify an Apple text message scam:
* Sender number: A legitimate Apple message will clearly display "Apple" as the sender, not a random phone number.
* Urgency tactics: Scammers often create a sense of urgency by claiming your account is about to be locked or that you have unauthorized activity.
* Suspicious links: Be cautious of any links in the message, especially if they look slightly different from a genuine Apple website.
* Request for personal details: A real Apple message will never ask you to provide your full password, security codes, or credit card details in a text message.
Be careful. These messages look legitimate.
I recommend deleting a message like this asap.
